Columbia University Cancels University Graduation After Days Of Gaza Protests

Columbia University announced the cancellation of its university-wide graduation ceremony on Monday, opting for smaller, school-based events amidst weeks of pro-Palestinian protests disrupting the campus. Reuters reported that the cancellation of the May 15 ceremony was attributed to the ongoing protests, which the university described as “incredibly difficult for our community.” In a statement, Columbia University expressed its decision to prioritize Class Days and school-level ceremonies, where students are individually recognized alongside their peers, over the larger university-wide event.
