An explosive device, mistaken for scrap metal, claimed the lives of at least six individuals, including school children, in northeast Nigeria’s Borno state. The blast occurred in an Islamic school building on Saturday. Despite a ban, scavenging for scrap remains prevalent in the region, plagued by ongoing Islamist violence.
