India expressed concern on Thursday regarding the US accusation linking an Indian official to a plot to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, deeming it contrary to government policy.
The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, highlighted the serious issue of organized crime, trafficking, gunrunning, and extremism on an international scale. In response to the US Justice Department charging Indian national Nikhil Gupta, India emphasized the need for a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
The US alleges that an Indian government employee orchestrated a conspiracy to assassinate Pannun on US soil. Pannun, leader of the separatist organization ‘Sikhs for Justice,’ has dual citizenship in the US and Canada.
