Myanmar’s military has transferred Aung San Suu Kyi from prison to house arrest, according to a source cited by AFP. The 78-year-old Nobel laureate, serving a 27-year sentence for various charges including corruption and violating COVID-19 protocols, has been largely out of sight since her 2021 arrest during a military coup. The transfer, which also included former president Win Myint, coincided with a new year amnesty freeing 3,300 prisoners.
