The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) announced plans for roadshows in Indian cities, amid declining Indian tourist numbers and strained diplomatic ties. The initiative was discussed with the Indian High Commissioner in Male on April 8. This follows backlash and a boycott due to derogatory remarks made by Maldivian officials about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
