On Monday, the Supreme Court directed that a five-judge bench will hear a clutch of petitions relating to same-sex marriages. To which the Chairman of Harmony foundation Dr Abraham Mathai issued a statement.
“In response to the Supreme Court referring to a clutch of petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage, though objectionable as it is not compatible with the order of nature, it has yet sadly found acceptance in the post-modern age and times.”
“Same sex marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and the eventual destruction of family and in the long run the disordering and dysfunction of society at large.” Dr. Mathai added.
The former former Vice-Chairman Minorities Commission said: “The Creator established rules governing the institution of marriage long before governments and judiciary came into existence. Modern secular psychology also recognises that men and women are psychologically and emotionally designed by the Creator to complement one another.”
He further said, “However, should the petition have its way through the verdict of the five bench member judges, same-sex couples should not be given the right of adoption as it will directly affect the child. Children are born out of procreation, the result of the opposite sex coming together in intimacy.”
“Allowing same-sex couples to adopt children will pervert their orientation as children need both parents to grow up in order to become functional adults. It will not be possible for an already dysfunctional household of same-sex parents to raise up children with normal psychological stability.”
Dr Mathai concluded his statement by saying: “This is a genuine cause of concern which should be addressed with the utmost urgency that it deserves. It begs for sanity and right thinking to prevail to rescue and prevent posterity from falling into the abyss which can easily be avoided.”
