At a briefing, the spokesperson noted the desire for broad public participation in the February 8th polls. He stated the U.S. wants to see a process facilitating wide involvement with respect for speech, gathering and organizational freedoms. Washington continues monitoring the electoral developments in Pakistan very closely.
