Prashant Kishor, who has been fast unto death Since Thursday in connection with the BPSC question paper leak allegations, was on Monday arrested by the Bihar police.
Prashant Kishor and his supporters were removed from the protest site by the police personnel. According to supporters of Kishor, the police took him to Patna AIIMS for a medical examination.
Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate (DM), Patna, said, “Yes, Kishor and his supporters sitting on dharna at Gandhi Maidan, were arrested by the police on Monday morning. They will now be produced before a courtā, news agency PTI reported.
Additionally, he added that their dharna was “illegal” and they were holding the sit-in near the restricted site.
The students and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor were protesting against the irregularities in the BPSC examination, which intensified after the government announced a re-examination.
While speaking to ANI on Sunday, Kishor said, “By conducting the re-examination, the government has legally accepted that irregularities have happened with certain students in the examination,”
Further, he added, “The chief minister (Nitish Kumar) should meet the students regarding their demands, this is in the interest of the state.”
Kishor was also seeking the support of Congress leader and LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav in the cancellation of the BPSC exam.
Earlier Speaking to news agency PTI, he said, āThese leaders are much bigger than us. They can get five lakh people to gather at the Gandhi Maidanā¦this is the time to do so. The future of the youth is at stake. We are faced with a brutal regime which has ordered lathi charge 87 times in just three years,ā PTI reported.
An FIR has been filed against Kishor and his 150 supporters asserting that the protest at the site was “illegal.”
