A woman and two children’s bodies were found floating on Friday evening in the river Barak, it is believed to be among the six Meitei persons who have been reported missing from Manipur’s Jiribam district since November 11.
The bodies are not yet identified; authorities believe that the bodies might be of those people who went missing on November 11. For further investigation, the remains have been transported to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in Assam and placed in the morgue for postmortem examinations.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has chaired a meeting with senior ministers to address the situation.
