New Delhi | Just a few days after the tragic terrorist attack on CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, 1 civilian and 4 army personnel including a Major were killed today in an encounter with the terrorists in Pinglan area of Pulwama district.
According to reports, the encounter broke out on Monday morning after Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants fired upon security forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama. The Army personnel are reported to belong to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles. Initial reports of the encounter said two to three terrorists were trapped at the encounter site.
Earlier on February 14, 40 CRPF personnel were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district when a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist identified as Adil Ahmed rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the bus they were travelling in. More than 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force personnel, many of them returning from leave to rejoin duty in the Valley, were travelling in the convoy of 78 vehicles when they were ambushed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Latoomode in Awantipora.
This was the first suicide car bomb strike in Kashmir since the 2001 attack on the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that left 41 persons, including three suicide attackers, dead.
