11,466 fresh Covid-19 cases registered today, 13.2% Higher Than Yesterday: 10 Points

Mumbai: India reports 11,466 fresh Covid-19 cases and 460 deaths in the last 24 hours. 11,961 recoveries in the last 24 hours pushes total number of recoveries to 3,37,87,047. The recovery rate is currently at 98.25% per cent.

The current recovery rate is 98.25%, the highest since March 2020. Active coronavirus cases in India currently stand at 0.41%, the lowest since March 2021. The weekly positivity rate of 1.20 per cent is less than 2 per cent for last 47 days. Daily positivity rate of 0.90 per cent is less than 2 per cent for the last 37 days.

During this period, the total vaccinations are 52,69,137.

As testing numbers improved after the Diwali break, the daily tally of Covid-19 cases in Mumbai and Maharashtra registered a slight increase on Tuesday. Maharashtra registered 982 cases, including 274 cases from Mumbai.

Deaths increased in Maharashtra from 15 on Monday to 27 on Tuesday. Mumbai registered only one deathβ€”the daily toll was zero on October 17 and one on September 21.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Monday reported 751 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 15 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 66,18,347 and the toll to 1,40,403, the state health department said. The number of cases and fatalities dipped on Monday compared to Sunday, when Maharashtra had logged 892 infections and 16 deaths due to COVID-19.

A total of 1,555 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries in Maharashtra so far to 64,60,663, leaving the state with 13,649 active cases, an official said. Maharashtra’s case recovery rate now stands at 97.62 per cent. The fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

With 61,720 new tests, the lowest in the recent past, the number of samples examined so far in Maharashtra went up to 6,33,02,489 on Monday, the official said.

On Monday, 16 districts and five municipal corporations in the state did not report any new COVID-19 cases.

Mumbai districts reported the highest 206 new infections, followed by the Ahmednagar district with 46 cases.

In order to ramp up the vaccination programme against COVID-19 further, the West Bengal government has decided to initiate a house-to-house campaign to identify beneficiaries who are yet to be administered the first dose of the vaccine.

Assam logged 247 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday taking the state’s total tally to 6,12,798.

Delhi reported 33 new COVID-19 cases and zero death in the last 24 hours while the positivity rate stood at 0.06 per cent.
