Order

As per the breakup, 2 would be released to DCP, Dwarka for the use of infected police officials, 8 for judicial officers of Tiz Hazari, Dwarka, Saket and 2 would be released to Covid health centre at Delhi Judicial Academy, Dwarka.

In a brazen order, a Delhi Court asked the Dwarka police station’s officials to release 10 seized concentrators and put them to use for judicial officers and the remaining 2 can be used for police. The police in a raid had seized 12 concentrators and 2 people were arrested for the same. After seizing them, the concentrators were deposited in Dwarka Police Station.

As per the order, the lawyer appearing for the state submitted that the seized oxygen concentrator be released “in best interest” and that oxygen concentrators can be used for the infected police personnel.

The order said, “no useful purpose would be solved to retain the oxygen concentrators in the police malkhana and the same should be circulated back for the use of needy patients”. Following the seizure, it was expected that this circulation will benefit the poor, critically ill patients who are struggling to find these for their loved ones.

Here, the court said, “It is pertinent to mention that judicial officers, due to the nature of their work are exposed to the deadly coronavirus.” The order cited two examples where members of the judiciary had passed away due to COVID-19.
