Mr. Tope said that approximately 1300 out of more than 1400 Markaz attendees from Maharashtra are traced and the process to quarantine them is underway.
Mumbai| Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed on Thursday that the main outcome of the video conference with Prime Minister was the permission given for rapid testing. According to him, it would be easier to quickly ascertain whether the patient is contracted by the coronavirus and to take a decision on whether the patient should be kept in quarantine or isolation. Further mentioning that the PM wanted states to work as one team, he elaborated efforts taken by the Maharashtra govt. to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
He informed that a strict curfew is being maintained at 146 containment zones. He also told that work for COVID- dedicated hospitals is underway. He also revealed that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had asked for more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the health workers and also demanded an increase in the production of PPE.
He further told that out of 338 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maharashtra, 42 have been discharged while 2 remain critical at the moment.
Talking about tracing the Markaz Nizamuddin linked people, Mr. Tope said that approximately 1300 out of more than 1400 Markaz attendees from Maharashtra are traced and the process to quarantine them is underway.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had interacted with all the Chief Ministers of the States and Union Territories via video conference on their efforts to contain the coronavirus. The meeting was attended by key union ministers such as Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
