3 killed including 16 year old girl after clash erupts between armed forces and civilian in J&K

Srinagar | A 16-year-old girl along with two other civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam on Saturday after security forces fired at stone-throwing protesters.

According to reports, the security forces opened fire after an army patrol came under attack in the Redwani area of Kulgam in south Kashmir. A search operation was underway for terrorists in the area, some reports said.

The civilians killed are all residents of Hawoora in Kulgam and are identified as Shakir Ahmad, 22, Irshad Majid, 20 and 16-year-old Andleeb. 10 protesters were also been injured in these clashes out of which two received bullet injuries. Mobile internet services were suspended in Kulgam and Anantnag districts to curb rumours and more protests.

Lucknow | Uttar Pradesh police on Friday signed a MoU with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for Crime Mapping analytics and predictive systems.

According to an official spokesperson, the Mou was signed by state police chief O.P. Singh and ISRO’s Advanced Data Processing Research Institute Director V. Raghu Venkataraman. Data from UP Police, UP 100 and CCTNS will be made available to the relevant department in ISRO. The analytical software will help the state police to map, visualize, and create queries and reports about crimes and criminal incidents.

The analytical software will also enable UP Police to analyze crimes and build profiles of the offenders/criminals as well as the complainants, thus helping it in predictive policing.
UP Police DGP further emphasized that crime mapping involves providing tools as well as technologies for many things. “The tools which have been developed by ADRIN will help UP Police in a big way, in the field of crime incident data, crime mapping, reporting, visualizing etc, added DGP

He said that crime is changing its dimensions every day, and that is why police need to be scientific in its approach and detect it with an objective mind. The MoU is valid for three years, the official said.
