39 Doctors, Staff From Delhi’s Max Hosp. Quarantined After 2 Patients Test Positive For Coronavirus

According to the sources, the staff came in contact with two people who were admitted to the hospital for heart-related treatment but later tested positive for the coronavirus.

New Delhi| 39 staffers, including doctors, nurses and ward boys, from Delhi’s Max Hospital in Saket area have been kept in quarantine after 2 patients tested positive for coronavirus.

The hospital, in a statement, informed, “Two patients admitted for cardiac treatment tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. 39 healthcare workers, who were contact traced, have been quarantined within a separate and isolated wing at Max Hospital, Saket.”

According to the sources, the staff came in contact with two people who were admitted to the hospital for heart-related treatment but later tested positive for the coronavirus.

The authorities have now asked all the people who came in contact with the 2 persons to go in quarantine.

All 39 staffers are being tested for coronavirus.

The hospital further informed, “All 39 individuals are asymptomatic and will be tested on the 5th day of exposure, which is tomorrow 14/04/20.”

“There are 154 employees deployed in shifts in the Covid ward of Max Hospital, Saket. None of these employees has had any exposure to the virus,” the hospital further added in its statement.

In a similar instance in Cardio-Neuro Centre in AIIMS Delhi, around 30 health workers including doctors, nurses and technicians were told to go in quarantine. The advice came after 72 years old man admitted for neurological problems tested positive for novel coronavirus.

Several other doctors and their staffs have tested positive for coronavirus in Delhi, including those from mohalla clinic.
