Tripura: On Sunday will addressing a rally in Tripura Agartala, TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee said that the end of the “BJP’s misrule” in the state is “certain”. He also referred to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb as ‘Big Flop Deb’.
Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and nephew of Mamata Banerjee, said, “Biplab Deb is now Big Flop Deb! He has toyed with the sentiments of the people of Tripura and has proven himself to be a complete failure when it comes to governance.”
He added, “What is Biplab Deb so afraid of? Why is he so rattled by our [TMC’s] presence? He has thus far done nothing for the people of Tripura. He has left them in despair and now that they have a credible alternative, he is trying to stop us?”
Earlier, the local police in Agartala had rescinded the permission given to the TMC to hold this rally in front of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in the city due to Covid-19. This was the fourth time the rally was blocked by the state. It was only on Saturday night that the Tripura High Court gave the party the required permission after an urgent case was filed. However, the judge said that more than 500 people would not be allowed at the venue.
At the rally on Sunday, Abhishek Banerjee said, “West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee will visit Tripura in December and address a big rally at Swami Vivekananda Stadium… Biplab Deb, none of your strategies will work anymore.”
Finally, he stated, “The TMC will fight for the people of Tripura. We will fight till the last drop of our blood – this is our promise! We will stand beside the people of Tripura and fight for them and their freedom.”
At the rally, former West Bengal minister Rajib Banerjee and Tripura MLA Ashis Das from the BJP joined the Trinamool Congress.
