In Greta Thunberg “toolkit” case, activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu now face non-bailable charges and arrest warrants against them are out.
In the case involving a “toolkit” shared by climate campaigner Greta Thunberg in support of the farmer protests, after the arrest of Bengaluru-based 22 years old Disha Ravi, two more activists are wanted by the police. Activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu now face non-bailable charges and arrest warrants against them are out. Disha Ravi, the climate activist accused of editing the “toolkit” shared by Greta Thunberg, is charged with sedition and is in police custody.
The organisation behind the “toolkit” shared by Greta Thunberg, Poetic Justice, had contacted Nikita Jacob to organise a “tweet storm” ahead of the Republic Day protest by farmers, according to the police. The police say that the organisation is a Khalistani group.
The arrests warrants have been issued amidst widespread outrage over the arrest of Disha Ravi, a Bengaluru college graduate and climate activist, on conspiracy and sedition charges. Earlier on Sunday, one of many founders of âFridays for Futureâ campaign was arrested from Bengaluru by Delhi police.
“I did not make the Toolkit. We wanted to support the farmers. I edited two lines on February 3,” Disha Ravi told the court. The court sent her to police custody until the next hearing five days later.
The Delhi Police, on February 4, filed a case regarding toolkit tweeted by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The case was filed in the aftermath of chaos and violence during the farmersâ tractor rally on Republic Day. The activist had tweeted in support of the ongoing farmersâ protest which had helped draw global attention to the protest.
The police of national capital had informed that the toolkit was found on a social media handle ahead of the violence and indicates a conspiracy behind the events of January 26.
âIf you go by the unfolding of events of January 26, it reveals a copycat execution of the action plan,â the Delhi Police had said.
âThe call was to wage economic, social, cultural and regional war against India,â Delhi Police Special Commissioner Praveer Ranjan had said.
