After Power Plant’s Ash Dam Collapses Kamal Nath Demands Compensation For Farmers

Two die after dyke of reliance power plant’s fly ash pond breaches in Madhya Pradesh. Their bodies were found at a distance from the breach site

 

MADHYA PRADESH| On Friday former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath tweeted state government should provide compensation to the farmers and villagers as Reliance power plant collapsed in Ash dam results in losses of many peoples lives.

On Friday an ash dam of a power plant collapsed in Singrauli district. A part of an ash dam of the power plant, situated in Singrauli district, collapsed and debris spread to nearby areas.

The Reliance power plant collapsed in Ash dam had cost two lives and four people were missing. It also causes spillage on several acres of agriculture fields. The district collector K.V.S. Choudary said, “The breach occurred owing to the negligence of the plant. There are no villages which have been directly affected, and the ash has flown through a channel to the Rihand Dam”.

The bodies of the two were found at a distance fro the breach site. “A National Disaster Response Force team from Varanasi of 30 rescuers is searching for the missing,” Mr Choudary said. The administration would conduct a survey of the damage areas and secure compensation for those affected from the power project.

Following the News Kamal Nath demanded an investigation into the matter. He tweeted in Hindi stating, “the nearby villages and a large number of farmers have been affected by the collapse of the ash dam of Reliance Power Plant in Singrauli district. Their crops are destroyed and debris has entered their houses”.

 

Following the first tweet he added, “The government should immediately make arrangements to compensate for the losses of the farmers. This whole matter should be investigated and whosoever is found guilty, strict action should be taken”.
