After Viral Video, Only 50 Allowed At Mussoorie’s Kempty Falls Say Authorities

Only 50 tourists will be allowed at Mussoorie’s famous Kempty falls in Uttarakhand with a maximum permissible time limit of 30 minutes, as per the new rules.

After shocking videos and images of tourists thronging the Kempty Falls in Mussoorie went viral, authorities have imposed restrictions to check the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

Only 50 tourists will be allowed at Mussoorie’s famous Kempty falls in Uttarakhand with a maximum permissible time limit of 30 minutes, as per the new rules.

“A check-post will be set up to set up to monitor the tourists,” said District Magistrate Iva Ashish Shrivastava, ANI reported.

In Mussoorie, places such as Kuldi Bazar and Mall Road are often crowded. Nainital also witnessed a similar situation due to an increase in the number of tourists.

An undated video of hundreds of tourists bathing at the Kempty Falls in Mussoorie surfaced on the internet on Wednesday. Social distancing went for a toss as people gathered at the popular tourist spot. No individual was seen wearing a mask.

Reacting to the visuals from hill stations, the Union Health Ministry has cautioned and warned the citizens saying that if the situation goes out of control, restrictions will have to be reimposed.
