Arnab Goswami, the chief of Republic TV has been booked by the police along with two others for allegedly abetting the suicide of an Alibaug based interior designer on Saturday, reported the Indian Express. Arnab has been said to be named amongst the three people mentioned in the suicide note and the four of them were alleged that they had not remitted their dues to him.
On the other hand, the allegation has been denied by the Republic TV.
A case was filed by the Raigad Police after the wife of the interior designer had made a complaint. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Patil stated, “The deceased, an interior decorator, had worked with the three persons he has named in the suicide note. According to his wife’s complaint, the three did not clear his pending bills, leading Anvay Naik to suffer severe losses in his business.”
The police stated that Naik committed suicide by hanging himself and his mother was found dead lying near him, however, the cause of her death remains unknown.
The Republic TV issued a statement yesterday saying that the groups had some sort of vested interest and were conducting a slandering and false campaign against the channel by using Naik’s death and threatened of a legal action. The channel stated, “Republic TV would like to clarify that it had engaged the services of one Concorde Designs Private Limited sometime in December 2016,” the statement said. “All amounts due and payable under the contract were paid by Republic TV to Concorde Designs. The details of payment, including cheque numbers, amounts, dates of payment, related correspondence and documentation are available with Republic TV.”
