Arun Jaitley had even skipped his oath-taking ceremony after being re-elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh due to the Kidney ailment.
Ending the speculations about his health issues, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley confirmed on Thursday that he is suffering from Kidney related issues. According to some sources, he might as well go under Kidney transplant.
Jaitley himself confirmed this in a tweet not divulging much about the nature of the ailment. He said, “I am being treated for kidney-related problems & certain infections that I have contracted.” He added that due to the infection he will be working from “controlled environment at home”. “The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me,” Jaitley said.

Arun Jaitley was scheduled to visit London to attend the 10th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue. However, following his deteriorating health conditions, he cancelled the visit. He has also cancelled domestic visit plans and has confirmed his absence during the party programs across the country ahead of Assembly elections in various states.
Arun Jaitley even skipped his oath-taking ceremony after being re-elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh. Jaitley, 65, has skipped office since Monday. He will be taken to AIIMS for treatment. The AIIMS doctor said that he had undergone few diagnostic tests.
Arun Jaitley is considered a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and No.2 in PM Modi’s Cabinet. Earlier, another senior BJP leader and former Cabinet Minister Manohar Parrikar had undergone treatment.
As soon as the news came out, ‘Get Well soon’ messages poured from across the party lines. The opposition Congress who has been attacking Jaitley for the economic policies also put aside the political rivalry and unanimously prayed for his recovery. Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “I’m truly sorry to hear this @arunjaitley ji. I pray for your speedy recovery.”
