Ashok Gehlot takes oath as Chief Minister of Rajasthan

New Delhi | Ashok Gehlot on Monday took oath as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan after the Congress party emerged victorious in the assembly election. Along with Gehlot, Sachin Pilot also took oath as the deputy chief minister of Rajasthan.

Various opposition leader including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The Congress party had emerged as the single largest party with 99 seats in the Rajasthan assembly and with the support of BSP and other independent MLAs has staked claim for the government in Rajasthan.

The new CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has won the assembly election from the Sardarpura constituency of Jodhpur is currently the national general secretary and in-charge of organizations and training of the Congress party. Gehlot was earlier the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2008 to 2013. He is considered as one of the progressive Chief Minister the state has ever witnessed.

Ashok Gehlot is a 5-time member of parliament from Rajasthan. And held ministerial positions in the cabinet of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Narasimha Rao.
