Agra: A group of Bajrang Dal a day before Christmas, burnt an effigy of Santa Claus in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. When people across the country are celebrating Christmas and enjoying their holidays, this group is protesting. The video of burning the effigy and shouting ‘go back Santa Claus is doing rounds on social media.

Bajrang Dal, a Hindu right-wing group, first shouted the slogan of ‘go back Santa Claus’ and then started beating the effigy of Santa Claus with their shoes and feet and later they burnt it in public to protest against alleged conversions.

As per reports, these people showed their anger against the Western civilization, which is attracting the younger generation of people. They said that they will not let happen the alleged religious conversion in India.

On December 24, a group of people from the Bajrang Dal gathered at Saint John’s chowk in Agra and started sloganeering against the holy festival. One of the Bajrang Dal members said that Santa does not give gifts to but he converts people into his religion. After this incident, the Christian society has condemned this act of the Hindu right-wing group.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Hindu right-wing organization submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Agra and blamed the Christian community for converting Hindu children into their missionary schools. The Bajrang Dal members said that Christian missionaries are heavily engaged in converting Hindu children into their religion.

Ludhiana Court Blast: Bomber Ex-Cop, Wanted To Destroy Drugs Case Papers

Ashmita Chhabria

Ludhiana: The body of the bomber in Ludhiana Court Blast case has been identified as Gagandeep Singh, a former cop, as per the sources. He wanted to destroy records in a drugs case filed against him, sources have said.

The suspect, Gagandeep Singh, had charges of ‘drug trafficking.’ He was head constable, he was dismissed from service in 2019 and spent two years in jail following his arrest in a drug-trafficking case. In the month of September he was released from jail. Singh was scheduled to appear in court in the drugs case filed against him, sources have told NDTV. He made a plan to destroy the court records room where case papers were stored, sources said.

The former head constable was apparently assembling the bomb in a court bathroom when it went off, sources said, adding it is not yet known from where he got the material to make the improvised explosive device, or IED.

The blast caused a water pipe to burst, which washed away some residual explosives that could have come in handy as vital clues, The Indian Express reported.

Two friends of Gagandeep Singh and his brother have been detained for questioning by the police. A laptop has been seized from his house.

The disclosure bolstered Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s statement that there appeared to be no evidence of the involvement of Pakistani agencies or Khalistani groups in the blast, and instead have ties to the drugs case in which former minister Bikram Majithia has been named.

At the court hearing in Mohali, Akali Dal leader Bikram Majithia was seeking advance bail after having been named in a case for allegedly allowing drug smuggling through the use of his property or conveyance, financing the distribution or sale of drugs and criminal conspiracy for smuggling narcotics.

Channi had faced criticism – including from his predecessor Amarinder Singh – for seemingly ruling out the terrorism link.

The revelation also follows a statement by union minister Hardeep Singh Puri who on Friday said the central government will not allow the situation in Punjab to be destabilised by forces operating either inside or outside India.
