“They (opposition) have been talking about it for so many days. According to me, it should definitely be probed,” CM Kumar said.
In a move that could prove to be a setback for the saffron party, its ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today offered his support to the opposition demand of ordering a probe into the Pegasus ‘snooping’ row.
When asked by reporters whether there should be an investigation into the allegations, Mr Kumar said: “Of course, it should be probed. The issue has been going on for many days now. Discussion should have been held on this issue by now.”
“You don’t know who can do such things these days. So in such matters, every aspect should completely be checked and right decision must be taken,” the Bihar CM, who is rumoured to have been in running feud with its ally BJP, said.
“Even we have been hearing things that are being said in parliament and newspapers about this. But there should be an investigation into this matter to find out the reality,” the JD(U) leader added.
“If people are listening through others’ phones and are getting control over it, then the truth should come out. They (opposition) have been talking about it for so many days. According to me, it should definitely be probed,” CM Kumar said.
“If such things are done to disturb or trouble someone, it should not happen. This is not good for the country,” he said.
The statement by the Bihar CM comes at a time when his relationships with the saffron party seem to have soured after the assembly elections in the state.
As recent as Yesterday, Bihar Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary said that the party accepted Nitish Kumar as the state chief minister despite the JD(U) having 43 seats in the legislative assembly as opposed to 74 seats of the saffron party.
He added that running the coalition government in Bihar was a challenging task as the NDA consists of four political parties with different ideologies.
“Running a coalition government in Bihar was challenging because the NDA alliance comprises four different political parties with all having divergent ideologies. In such circumstances, we have to tolerate a lot of things,” Samrat Choudhary said.
