BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi Transferred, Iqbal Chahal is the new BMC Chief

Amid national lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak in the country, IAS shifts have been made in civic body of Mumbai BMC.

Mumbai| The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led government has made changes in the BMC to rope in more people in the COVID-19 battle.

Former Thane Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal, who was waiting for posting, is new additional commissioner of BMC replacing present incumbent Abasaheb Jarhad who is new relief and rehabilitation secretary

Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary Kishorraje Nimbalkar has been transferred as Public Works Department Secretary replacing Manoj Saunik who will be additional CS Finance Department. Saunik was looking after Public Works and Finance Departments

In a major shakeup, BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi has been shunted out amid rising coronavirus cases in Mumbai. He has been transferred as additional CS in the urban development department. Iqbal Chahal, who is currently UDD principal secretary is the new BMC Commissioner.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, has climbed to 17,974 with 698 deaths.

Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, figures also nears 10,000-mark.

The total cases in India surged to 56,342 including over 16,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 1,886 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
