MUMBAI| On Tuesday BMC issued a new set of guidelines for easing the restrictions in Phase-1. This action comes days after the Maharashtra government issued guidelines for easing lockdown restrictions.
The revised guidelines say, all markets and shops, except mall and market complexes, are allowed to function for full working hours. “All shops on one side of the road will remain open for full working hours on one day while all the shops on the other side of the road will remain open on the next day,” the order read. The shops will remain open from Monday to Saturday and remain close on Sunday.
On June 2, BMC had allowed all markets and shops to remain open till morning 9 to 5 in the evening on conditions that they adhere to lockdown norms like sanitising premises and enforcing social distancing for customers.
The new relaxations, will not be applied for containment zones. Rest of the BMC ‘s revised guidelines are in sync with the state government’s Mission Begin Again guidelines issued on May 31.
The revised guidelines state all private offices can operate with up to 10% staff, while the remaining staff can continue to work from home. It also states that printing and distribution of newspapers can resume from June 7. officers and staff of educational institutions can operate only for “non-teaching purposes including the development of e-content, evaluation of answer sheets and declaration of results.”
The latest guideline states, that no garden or play area equipment, swings and bars will be allowed to operate during the lockdown period., till June 30. Open-air gyms are also not allowed.
The BMC form June allowed selected physical activities like cycling, jogging, running, and walking at parks and beaches between 5 am to 7 pm. The Mumbai civic body allowed schools and other educational institutions to function for non-teaching purposes like the development of e-content, evaluation of answers sheets and declaration of results.
The revised guideline reads, “However the inter-district movement of persons within the area of the municipal corporation under the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) shall be allowed without any restrictions.”
It also said, Movement of standard labourers, migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists etc. will continue to be regulated as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maharashtra government had said no permission will be required to travel within MMR area. “The inter-district movements of persons within the area of Municipal Corporations under the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) shall be allowed without restrictions,” the state government’s revised guidelines said.
