A chartered plane crashed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Thursday. The plane was about to land when it crashed, according to initial reports. A news agency reported that teams of fire brigade have rushed to the spot.
The plane, a King Air C 90 (CHECK), reportedly belongs to the Uttar Pradesh government but as per unconfirmed sources, the plane was sold off to UY Aviation. The plane had earlier met with an accident in the city of Allahabad after which it was sold off.
It crashed near Sarvoday Nagar in Ghatkopar, next to a building under construction.

As per the information coming in, 5 casualties have been reported so far consisting of 1 Pilot, 1 pedestrian and 3 others.
“Two pilots, two Aircraft Maintenance Engineers on board & one person on ground are dead in the Mumbai chartered plane crash,” reported the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Principal Secretary Information Avnish Awasthi, however, exclaimed that “The chartered plane which has crashed (in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar) does not belong to UP govt. The state govt had sold it to Mumbai’s UY Aviation. The deal was done after the plane had met with an accident in Allahabad.”
As per sources, the chartered plane was purchased from the UP Government 2 years ago by Deepak Kothari of Pan Parag.
The crash comes in the backdrop of at least three Air Force planes being involved in similar crashes in the month alone.
