BREAKING: PM Modi Calls For An All-Party Meeting On June 19 To Discuss India-China Border Situation

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the violent face-off that erupted between Indian and Chinese troops at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh

 

NEW DELHI| On Wednesday PM Modi office order to discuss the situation in the India-China border areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an all-party meeting at 5 PM on 19th June. Presidents of various political parties would take part in this virtual meeting.

 

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the violent face-off that erupted between Indian and Chinese troops on Monday night at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh. The casualty numbers could grow, government sources were quoted saying by news agency ANI.

Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs had confirmed that there have been casualties on both sides during the skirmish that broke out on LAC on Monday night.

“On the late-evening and night of 15th June 2020, a violent face-off happened as a result of an attempt by the Chinese side to unilaterally change the status quo there. Both sides suffered casualties that could have been avoided had the agreement at the higher level been scrupulously followed by the Chinese side.” Anurag Srivastava, the MEA spokesperson said.

Countering China’s claim of Indian soldiers entering the Chinese Territory, the MEA said, “India is very clear that all its activities are always within the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control. We expect the same of the Chinese side.”

As per the official statement, Major Generals of both sides held talks to deescalate the situation after the face-off.
