New Delhi| Acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will be presenting the interim budget in the Lok Sabha today at 11 am. The Union Cabinet will hold a meeting before the presentation of the budget today. Not only this budget comes in the election year but also it is the last one of the Modi government in the present parliament session. thus, it is being anticipated that the government may introduce sops for the middle class.
It is expected that the government may announce financial sops for farmers considering the widespread farm distress that became a major election issue in the recently conducted assembly polls. As PM Modi had indicated in his speech, the government may introduce the direct cash transfer for farmers. It may also include tax benefits for salaried class and low-interest loans for small businesses.
Amidst the speculations that the Modi government will be presenting a full-fledged budget today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already clarified that it will be only presenting the interim budget.
