CBI raided Former J&K Advisor Baseer Khan’s residence at Srinagar

Srinagar : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided residence of retired IAS officer Baseer Ahmad Khan, a week after he was relieved as advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. According to sources these raids are being carried in connection with a fake gun license racket.

Sources reported that a team of CBI officials from New Delhi accompanied by local police showed up at Khan’s residence at Bulbul Bagh, Baghat in uptown Srinagar and started searching the house. Baseer Khan was adviser to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and his successor Manoj Sinha from March 2020.

Following a communication from the CBI in which it was stated that Khan was one of the accused in the fake gun licences racket, the J&K government recently removed him from the adviser’s post.

Subsequently, the J&K government relieved Khan from the post of Advisor with his relieving order also making a mention of the MHA communique.

ā€œPursuant to communication No. 15030/40/2019-J&K dated 4th October, 2021, of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Baseer Ahmad Khan (Retired IAS:2000) is hereby relieved from the post of Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with immediate effect,ā€ reads the government order issued on October 12.

NIA raids at 16 places in Kashmir in terror conspiracy case

The NIA conducted searches at 16 locations in Kashmir valley in connection with a conspiracy to carry out violent activities in J&K and other major cities by the cadres of proscribed Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and their affiliates Al Badr, The Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF), Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind (MGH) etc.

Shopian encounter

In an encounter in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, at three Lashkar-e-Taliba (LeT) terrorist were killed by the Resistance Front (TRF). The police informed that incriminating arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

“#ShopianEncounterUpdate: 03 terrorists of LeT (TRF) killed. Identification being ascertained. #Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted from its official Twitter handle.

The encounter started at Tulran, Imamsahab area of Shopian on Monday.

One of three Lashkar-e-Taiba- The Resistance Force terrorists killed in the encounter in Shopian is from Ganderbal district, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

“One terrorist has been identified as Mukhtar Shah of Ganderbal. He had shifted to Shopian after killing one street hawker Virendra Paswan of Bihar,” Mr Kumar said.

Yesterday two terrorist were killed in different encounters in Jammu and Kashmir one in Bandipora and another in Anantnag.

Search operations are underway in the Bandipora area. The terrorist was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar and is said to have been affiliated with terror outfit LeT (Lashkar- e-Taiba). He was also involved in the recent targeted killings of civilians, according to police.

In Anantnag one police personnel was injured during an encounter in the Verinag area. One terrorist was also killed. A pistol and a hand grenade were recovered from the spot.
