Chandrayaan 2: NASA releases images of Lunar surface, says Lander Vikram has “Hard landing”

NASA also released some images of where the landing should have happened. However, it couldn’t locate the Lander Vikram.

New Delhi| American space agency NASA presented its report on India’s Chandrayaan-2 mission. The report said that lander Vikram had a hard-landing on the moon’s surface. NASA also released some images of where the landing should have happened. However, it couldn’t locate the Lander. According to scientists, there is a night on Moon and due to shadows, the space agency couldn’t locate the missing lander.

NASA said that it will once again try to locate the lander after once the moon’s south pole comes out of the shadow. NASA tweeted, “Our @LRO_NASA mission imaged the targeted landing site of India’s Chandrayaan-2 lander, Vikram. The images were taken at dusk, and the team was not able to locate the lander. More images will be taken in October during a flyby in favourable lighting.”

Earlier, this month, NASA had tweeted in support of ISRO saying the “Space is hard”. ISRO ground communication team lost contact with lander Vikram in the last crucial 15 minutes before the moon-landing. Reportedly, Vikram was only 2.1 KM away from the lunar surface.
