Congress Corners BJP Over Vaccination Of Devendra Fadnavis’s Nephew

The picture of Tanmay Fadnavis, nephew of Devendra Fadnavis, taking the second jab of the Covid vaccine stoked a huge controversy with the Congress attacking the BJP for the same.

As soon as the picture of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and now Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis’ nephew taking the second jab of the Covid vaccine started doing the rounds on social media, the Congress party got into the action, attacking the BJP and asking how the 23-year-old got vaccinated.

“The Modi government has imposed a condition to vaccinate people only above 45 years of age. In such a situation, how can Fadnavis’s nephew who is less than 45 years of age get vaccinated?,” the Maharashtra Congress asked on its official Twitter handle.

“The lives of BJP leaders’ families are important, then what about other people? Isn’t their life worth anything!” it further added.

The picture of Tanmay Fadnavis, nephew of Devendra Fadnavis, stoked a huge controversy as several states including Maharashtra reported an acute vaccine shortage a few days back and the vaccination was only open to those above the age of 45. However, the BJP leader’s nephew received the jab in spite of not belonging to the eligible age group.

Congress leader Srivastava put out a post with a photo of a young person taking the vaccine at the National Cancer Institute, Nagpur. He also posted Tanmay’s pictures with Devendra Fadnavis, questioning how the leader’s nephew was eligible for taking the vaccine. The 23-year-old is now believed to have deleted the post after his photo went viral.

“Dear @Dev_Fadnavis, is your Nephew Tanmay Fadnavis 45+ years old? , if not how is he eligible for taking the Vaccine? Just like Remdesivir, are you hoarding Vaccines & giving it to your family members? People are dying. There is Vaccine Shortage. But Fadnavis family is Safe,” Srivatsa wrote on his Twitter handle.

Congress on its Twitter said, “The Modi government had put up a condition that only people above the age of 45 will be vaccinated. In such a situation, how can Fadnavis’ nephew who is less than 45 years of age get vaccinated? The lives of BJP leaders’ families are important. Are common people insects? Isn’t their life worth anything!”
