Congress Leader Kirti Azad To Join Trinamool Congress Today

New Delhi :On Tuesday Congress Leader Kirti Azad will join Trinamool Congress at 05 :00 PM in the National capital.

he is the Son of former Bihar Chief Minister Bhagwat Jha Azad, Kirti Azad is a three-time Member of Parliament from Darbhanga in Bihar. Son of former Bihar Chief Minister Bhagwat Jha Azad, Kirti Azad is a three-time Member of Parliament from Darbhanga in Bihar.

He was suspended from the BJP for openly targeting Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged irregularities and corruption in Delhi and District Cricket Association on December 23, 2015 and later he joined Congress in 2019.

Mr Azad was elected to Lok Sabha thrice from Darbhanga in Bihar. He had fought the 2014 general elections on a BJP ticket.

A cricketer-turned-politician, Mr Azad was a part of the World Cup-winning Indian team in 1983.

After a four-year hiatus, Azad joined the Congress in February 2019 in the presence of then party president Rahul Gandhi and lost the Darbhanga Lok Sabha seat to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the general elections held a few months later. .

Prior to joining politics, Kirti Azad was a cricketer who was a member of India’s 1983 World Cup winning squad, led by Kapil Dev.

The development comes amid West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Delhi, who is slated to be in the national capital till November 25.

Ms Banerjee’s visit to the capital is taking place days ahead of the winter session of Parliament which is scheduled to begin on November 29.

She will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to discuss issues pertaining to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the development of the state during her visit to Delhi.

Ms Banerjee had visited Delhi in July this year. It was her first visit after Trinamool Congress returned to power in the Bengal Assembly polls. During her last visit to Delhi, she had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
