New Delhi| The total number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 724 today. More than 70 cases were reported from the various parts of the country on Thursday. Of these, 677 are Indians and 47 are foreign nationals.
At present, there are 640 active coronavirus patients in the country. A total of 67 patients have been cured or discharged so far, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
With 19 fresh cases recorded on Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 patients in Kerala has surged to 137. The state has now highest coronavirus cases in India. Maharashtra comes close second with 130 active cases reported so far.
Experts have asked people to stay at home, to not venture out on roads unless it’s absolutely necessary and do not believe in rumours, and don’t panic.

Rating agency Crisil on Thursday slashed its FY21 growth forecast for India by as much as 170 basis points to 3.5%, citing the damaging impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, as it revised downwards its projection for the second time in a week.
The US on Friday surpassed China in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases. With 85,300 positive tests, now it has more infected patients than any other country in the world. But Covid-19-related fatalities in the US (1,295) so far have been way fewer than in China (3,292), Italy (8,215) and Spain (4,365).
More than 532,263 people around the world have now contracted the new coronavirus, while the global death toll stood at 24,090.

The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 17 in the country on Friday. In its updated figures at 9.15 am, the ministry stated that four deaths were reported from Maharashtra while Gujarat had registered three deaths. Karnataka has reported two deaths so far, while Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have reported one death each. (PTI)
