Coronavirus Wreaks Havoc In Maharashtra, State Records More Than 25,000 Cases In A Day

According to the data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Health, Maharashtra has the highest share of new cases of coronavirus being recorded across the country at 63.21 percent.

 

Mumbai| Maharashtra is once again witnessing the highest impact of coronavirus in India. The Coronavirus numbers broke all records in the state. If the infection continues to prevail at the current rate in the state, by the first week of April, Maharashtra alone will have 3 lakh active patients of Coronavirus.

State Health Secretary Pradip Vyas said that on Thursday, 25,833 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the state. This is the highest since early December.

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that Maharashtra is facing the second wave of Coronavirus right now. Currently, there are 1,66,353 active cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra. There are 2,52,364 active cases of Coronavirus all over India.

According to the data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Health, Maharashtra has the highest share of new cases of coronavirus being recorded across the country at 63.21 percent. Before Thursday, new cases of Covid-19 in the state were less than 25000. On 11 September 2020, there were 24,886 cases in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra has 9 out of the 10 districts in the country with the most active cases of Corona. These districts are Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Nanded and Amravati. Apart from this only Bengaluru (urban) is the district which has the highest number of active cases of coronavirus. In the state, 95 percent of the rising cases of coronavirus are asymptomatic.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a virtual meeting with the Divisional Commissioners on Thursday and asked them to strictly enforce the sanctions issued in the state.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the state is currently working to speed up the vaccination process. The govt aims to deliver vaccines to 3 lakh people every day.
