Panchkula Court convicts Ram Rahim in journalist murder case

Rohtak | The Panchkula court on Friday convicted self-styled godman Ram Rahim in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. All four in the case including Gurmeet Ram Rahim were convicted in Journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati murder, by CBI Special Court in Panchkula. Sentence to be pronounced on January 17

Ram Rahim is convicted of ordering his followers to kill Ram Chander Chhatrapati after his newspaper published an anonymous letter narrating how Singh sexually harassed women at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. The Sirsa based journalist was shot outside his residence in October 2002. The case against Ram Rahim and his followers was registered in 2003 and was later handed over to CBI in 2006. Earlier on Tuesday, the special CBI court had accepted the state governments plea allowing Ram Rahim to appear before the court via video conferencing.

New Delhi | Former CBI chief Alok Verma just a day after being removed as the CBI chief today refused to take charge as the Director General of the Fire Services.

In a letter to the C Chandramouli, Secretary of Department of Personnel and Training, Verma wrote,” Natural justice was scuttled and the entire process was turned upside down in ensuring that the undersigned is removed from the post of the Director CBI.”

CBI director Alok Verma on Thursday after a marathon meeting of the Select committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed from the high-profile post on the charges of corruption and dereliction of duty making him the first chief in the history of the agency to face such action.
