COVID-19 Cases in India Surge to 15,712, Death Toll at 507

Union Health Ministry has said that the recovery rate that shows the number of people who have successfully fought off COVID-19 is improving.

New Delhi| Crossing the 15,000-mark on Sunday, India now has total 15,712 COVID-19 Cases, including 507 casualties and 2,230 recoveries.

The rate stood at 14.19 per cent this morning, an improvement from 13.85 per cent on Saturday.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country with over 3,600 COVID-19 cases.

The number of cases in Mumbai’s Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum rose to 117 on Saturday.

India may touch its peak of coronavirus cases in the first week of May, after which the number will decline, sources in the Home Ministry have said.

The global death toll from the coronavirus has now crossed over 1,60,000 people, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

At least 160,717 people have died from novel coronavirus and more than 2.3 million cases have been confirmed worldwide.
