COVID-19 Cases In India Surge Past 67,000 After Highest Daily Jump

India registered over 4,000 COVID-19 related cases in 24 hours, highest yet daily jump, alarming the governments across the country.

New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 67,152 including over 20,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 2,206 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, 97 casualties were recorded.

A staggering 4,213 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, highest so far.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, moved past 22,000 with over 800 deaths.

Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, figures climbed above 13,500.

Follows Gujarat with 8,194 cases of highly infectious coronavirus, second highest in the country.

Tamil Nadu witnessed the sharpest hike in fresh cases this week. Total cases in the state are 7,204.

Across the country, at least 20,916 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 31%.

Currently, there are 44,029 active COVID-19 patients in the country

A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 4,100,000 while the death toll crossed 282,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States has entered into a grim situation as it recorded its one-millionth case of COVID-19, about one-third of the entire world’s caseload, as per Johns Hopkins University data.
