COVID-19 Confirm Cases Differs in NCDC And ICMR’s Data, Shows Difference of 1,087 Patients

While discussing, NCDC confirms India’s cases at 26,496 till April 26, but ICMR states 27,583 cases, the difference of 1,087 patients

NEW DELHI| On Sunday Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a meeting with state health secretaries on the issue of data anomalies across states was raised. While discussing the whole issue a presentation video showed the difference between the confirmed cases in the state and UT’s. And the data collected by the NCDC and ICMR, this led to rose questions whether cases were being missed out because of these infirmities.

While discussing NCDC confirms India’s cases at 26,496 till April 26, but ICMR states 27,583 confirmed cases, the difference of 1,087 patients.

During the meeting, the presentation showed similarities in only eight regions five states from the Northeast and Union Territories of Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep. of these eight places, four have no cases and only one state has more than 2 confirmed cases Meghalaya with 12 cases.

The difference lies in the 21 states and UT’s, where the number of confirmed cases are higher in the ICMR records compared to the NCDC till April 26. The highest was amongst the Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal where the ICMR data shows 8,848, 3,809 and 770 confirmed cases. While the NCDC data count stands at 7,628, 3,071 and 611. The highest difference among these 21 states is in Maharashtra 1,220 cases. Nagaland has the lowest difference of 1 case. While ICMR data records Nagaland’s confirmed case count as 1, NCDC has zero next to the state’s name.

The data holds a huge difference in eight states where the NCDC number is higher than the ICMR. The biggest difference is recorded in Delhi Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. According to the NCDC data Delhi holds 2,625, the ICMR data says 2,155 confirmed cases. The corresponding numbers for MP are 2096 (NCDC) and 1778 (ICMR), and 1793 (NCDC) and 1572 (ICMR) for Uttar Pradesh.
