Covid-19: Covid cases in India saw huge dip, 18,795 fresh cases recorded

Mumbai: India records a huge dip in Covid-19 cases. India has reported less than 20,000 daily new cases after 201 days. According to the data by Union Health Ministry, the country recorded 18,795 new cases, 179 deaths in the last 24 hours. Deaths are lowest since March 22.

The current active caseload has dipped below 3 lakhs after 6 months and the tally stands at 2,92,206. Recovery rate improves at 97.81%.

Maharashtra on Monday, recorded 2,432 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest number of daily infections since February 8, when 2,216 Covid infections were recorded, at the start of the second wave 231 days ago. Kerala, which continues to lead the states in daily Covid cases, saw a sharp dip in its case tally with 11,699 cases. The state also reported 58 deaths.

With 1,657 cases, Tamil Nadu is the second southern state after Kerala with a high daily caseload. It also reported 19 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, reported six Covid cases, while neighbouring Delhi, the national capital, reported 32 cases. Both states reported zero Covid deaths.

Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar – the four big states – reported zero Covid deaths. Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand also reported zero Covid deaths.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 86 crore, with over 1 crore doses given on Monday, the Union health ministry said. The daily COVID-19 vaccination in the country had crossed 1 crore for the first time on August 27.

Even as the number of Covid-19 cases is declining continuously, the nationwide vaccination drive against the disease is going on at a rapid pace in India.India reported 26,041 Covid cases on Monday which was the third consecutive day when the country reported less than 30,000 cases. India reported 2 lakh Covid cases in the last 7 days which is the lowest in two quarters. For the fifth time, India on Monday administered one crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, informed Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
