Cyclone Fani: EC relax Model Code of Conduct in 4 Andhra Pradesh districts for relief work

Hyderabad | Amid Cyclone Fani hitting the East coast of India, the Election Commission today relaxed the Model Code of Conduct in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh for relief work.

The Election Commission of India approved the proposal for granting relaxations in the provisions of Model Code of Conduct in East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagram & Srikakulam districts, for all the preventive & relief work associated with the Cyclone Fani.

Meanwhile, the Indian meteorological department said that in the next 3 hours the Cyclone is expected to weaken with a wind speed of 150-160 km per hour and subsequently it will weaken and move north-northeastwards. By evening, it may weaken into a severe cyclonic storm over the extreme northern part of Odisha.

The East Coast Railways has also announced a special train to be run from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai CSTM with the timings and stoppages of Konark Express.
