In light of the Supreme Court order, the central government had come under immense pressure as the Dalit MPs of BJP and NDA coalition took the matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the government will find a review petition in Supreme Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, the situation in Punjab is tensed. In the wake of the protests that took place across the state a day ago, the Punjab government has deployed paramilitary and police forces in different parts of the state. To avoid any mishap, CM Amarinder Singh has already ensured the deployment of 300 BSF soldiers and Punjab police personnel in the Bhatinda district, two days prior the Bharat Bandh.
To avoid loss of public property, the Punjab government has halted the state transport systems till Monday. While mobile services have been suspended, schools will also remain shut.
This has affected the CBSE exams. In light of the Bharat Bandh, the Punjab CBSE has postponed the exam. In a press release issued by the Punjab CBSE, it has said that it received a letter that called for postponing the CBSE exams in light of the Bharat Bandh being observed in the state.
