Days After Attack On Air Base, IAF Station In Jammu Gets Anti-Drone System, Jammers

After a drone attack on the Jammu base on June 27, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been on alert.

Days after explosives-laden drones dropped bombs in the technical area of the airport, an anti-drone system has been installed at the Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu amid multiple sightings of quadcopters in the city.

An anti-drone system has been put in place at the Jammu Air Force station by the National Security Guard (NSG), sources told India Today.

“Systems have been scaled up for the new drone threat. A radio frequency detector and soft jammers have been installed at the station in Jammu,” sources added. Anti-drone guns have also been deployed.

After a drone attack on the Jammu base on June 27, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been on alert.

The attack on Jammu air base is the first such instance of suspected Pakistan-based terrorists deploying unmanned aerial vehicles to strike at vital installations.

Army soldiers, a day later, thwarted fresh attempts to target the Ratnuchak-Kaluchak military station in Jammu with drones.

On Wednesday, for the fourth straight day, drones were reportedly spotted at three different places in Jammu.

Sources told India Today that drones were seen hovering over Miran Sahib, Kaluchak and Kunjwani areas of Jammu in the wee hours of Wednesday.
