It’s Didi Over Dada: TMC Set To Retain Power In West Bengal

TMC is leading on most seats in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Junglemahal.

After an intense battle between the incumbent Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP in the West Bengal Assembly Election that spanned over eight phases, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC looks all set to retain the eastern state. At the time of this copy being prepared, as per the election commission’s website, the TMC was leading over 199 seats, while the BJP was ahead on 79 seats.

On Nandigram seat, where Mamata Banerjee is facing her former colleague Suvendu Adhikari who joined the BJP later, the fight seems to be neck to neck. After third round of counting Mamata was far behind against Suvendu with a margin of 8,000 votes. However, according to latest update from counting centre, BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari has got 27,640 votes till the fourth round, while TMC leader and CM Mamata Banerjee has got 23,930. The margin between the two rivals have significantly decreased as Mamata maintained a lead over Suvendu in the fourth round of counting.

BJP MP and Minister Babul Supriyo was trailing by about 8,000 votes from Tollyganj. TMC has been maintaining that the only Union Minister contesting would lose in the election. TMC’s Aroop Biswas is leading from the Tollyganj seat.

TMC is leading on most seats in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Junglemahal. TMC is also doing extremely well in Howrah, Hooghly, Bankura Purba and Paschim Bardhaman.

TMC is leading in 14 out of 16 seats in Howrah despite massive defection of leaders from TMC to BJP. TMC is leading in 29 seats in North Bengal while the BJP is leading in 25 seats as of 11 am

BJP’s Rajib Banerjee is trailing in Domjur against TMC’s Kalyan Ghosh. TMC’s Arup Roy is leading from Howrah Central against BJP’s Sanjay Singh. BJP’s Neeraj Zimba is leading in Darjeeling.
