“Don’t Interfere”: JP Nadda Rebukes BJP MLA For Defending An Accused Of Shooting

Nadda

BJP president JP Nadda, as per sources, has also warned the party’s UP chief over the conduct of BJP MLA Surendra Singh.

BJP MLA Surendra Singh, who has been staunchly defending an aide accused of shooting dead a man in public in Ballia last week, has been asked by BJP Chief JP Nadda to provide an explanation. BJP president JP Nadda, as per sources, has also warned the party’s UP chief over the conduct of BJP MLA Surendra Singh, NDTV reported.

Earlier, during a Panchayat meeting in the presence of officials and the police, former army man Dhirendra Singh allegedly shot a villager dead. The video of the incident was doing rounds on the internet.

Missing since the shooting on Thursday, Dhirendra Singh was arrested yesterday. He was caught on the highway after he filed a request to surrender, apparently to avoid police interrogation, NDTV reported.

An MLA from Ballia, Surendra Singh, has defended the alleged killer since the incident and even claimed he shot the villager, Jai Prakash, in “self-defence”. The BJP MLA also hit out at the UP police and administration for a “one-sided inquiry”.

As per sources, BJP President JP Nadda called up the party’s UP chief Swatantra Dev Singh and warned him “strongly” over the MLA’s behaviour. Reportedly, the UP BJP chief has been ordered by JP Nadda to serve show-cause notice to Surendra Singh and has reportedly warned of action if there is any attempt to interfere in the investigation.

Earlier, Surendra Singh had said that such a casualty could “happen anywhere”. Then the BJP MLA said: “I condemn the tragic incident but I also condemn the administration’s one-sided investigation. If Dhirendra Singh had not fired in self-defence, dozens from his family would have been killed. He had no other alternative except for marne aur maarne (dying or killing).”

Indian Democracy Going Through The Most Difficult Times: Sonia Gandhi

TestHostEntry

In the meeting with party leaders, Sonia Gandhi said, “A conspiracy has been hatched to end the benefits of the Green Revolution.”

New Delhi| While presiding over a party meeting on Sunday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that Indian democracy is going through its most difficult phase. The meeting of Congress general secretaries and state in-charge was chaired by Sonia Gandhi. During this meeting, Sonia has attacked the Modi government on three laws related to farmers, dealing with the Covid-19 epidemic, the state of the economy and alleged atrocities against Dalits. After the meeting, the Congress has said that the party has decided to launch a series of programs against the ‘anti-farmer, anti-women, anti-poor and anti-people’ policies of the NDA government at the Center.

The party has issued a statement saying it will celebrate October 31st as ‘Farmers’ Rights Day’ in opposition to the three farm laws. According to reports, the Congress will perform ‘satyagraha and fast’ in every district headquarters from 10 am to 4 pm against agricultural laws. The party will celebrate ‘Day Against Women and Dalit Harassment’ on November 5, in which state-level dharna will be held at every state headquarters from 10 am to 2 pm.

Party leader KC Venugopal said that through these events, the party will highlight the incidents of continuous atrocities against Dalits across the country, especially against the victim of Hathras and her family. He said that this year, Diwali celebrations are beginning on the day of birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on November 14 and a day before that on November 13, a seminar will be organized in every state headquarters on the subject of ‘Nehru’s ideology and nation-building’. It was also decided in the meeting that an online campaign on ‘Speak Up for PSU’ will be conducted on the theme of self-reliant India created by Nehru on 14 November.

In the meeting, Sonia Gandhi said, “A conspiracy has been hatched to end the benefits of the Green Revolution. The livelihood of crores of agricultural labourers, sharecroppers, tenants, small and marginal farmers, small shopkeepers has been attacked. It is our duty to jointly thwart this conspiracy.” President Ram Nath Kovind recently approved all three laws – Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Act 2020, Farmers Product Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Simplification) Act 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.

Gandhi claimed that the constitution and democratic traditions are being deliberately attacked. She alleged that there is a government in the country that wants to hand over the rights of the citizens of the country to the hands of a handful of capitalists. Gandhi said, “We saw the biggest migration of crores of migrant workers so far due to lack of planning and the government remained silent on their plight.”

Gandhi said, “The bitter truth is that the Prime Minister, who claimed to defeat the Coronavirus in 21 days, has withdrawn from his accountability.” She alleged in his speech in Hindi that this government has no policy, no thought, no way nor any solution against the epidemic. Gandhi claimed that the central government has destroyed the strong economy created by the hard work of the citizens of the country and the vision of the Congress governments.
