“I Drink Cow Urine Every Day, So Don’t Have Corona”: BJP MP Pragya Thakur

“So now I don’t have to take any medicine against corona and I don’t have corona,” Pragya Thakur is heard telling a party gathering.

BJP MP Pragya Thakur, in another contentious statement on Wednesday, said ow urine can cure lung infection caused by Covid. The unscientific and bizarre statement from the BJP MP comes at a time when the country is fighting a massive second wave of Covid-19 infections. She also went on to add that takes cow urine every day and it has protected her from the coronavirus.

“If we have desi gau mutra (urine from an indigenous cow) every day then it cures lung infection from Covid. I am in deep pain but I take cow urine every day. So now I don’t have to take any medicine against corona and I don’t have corona,” Pragya Thakur is heard telling a party gathering.

“Cow urine is a life-saver,” the BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal said.

Pragya Thaur, who is controversy’s favorite child due to her statements, had earlier claimed that a mix of cow urine and other cow products had cured her cancer.

Pragya Thakur was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital in December 2020 over Covid-19-induced symptoms.

Doctors and experts have repeatedly warned against unproven alternative cures offered for Covid.

There is no scientific evidence that cow dung or urine helps with the treatment or prevention of Covid, the Indian Medical Association has said.

Dr JA Jayalal, the head of the medical body, told Reuters: “There is no concrete scientific evidence that cow dung or urine boosts immunity against COVID-19.”

Many BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh MLA Surendra Singh and the party’s Bengal Chief Dilip Ghosh, have earlier claimed that they consume cow urine and also appealed others do to so in order to fight the Covid-19 disease.
