DRT sends notice to Nirav Modi and family to recover 7,000 crores

New Delhi | Absconding Diamond Businessman Nirav Modi was today served a notice by the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) to recover Rs 70,000 crores in dues.

The notice to Nirav Modi, his families and companies was served by the DRT-1 Registrar, A. Murali, six months after the Punjab National Bank (PNB) had moved the tribunal in July to recover around Rs 7,029 crore. The notice states that Nirav Modi and others have been barred from disposing off, transferring, or entering into any transactions pertaining to the secured properties,

Meanwhile the Tribunal has given Nirav Modi a time period till January 15, 2019to filed a reply to the DRT notice failing which the PNB plea would be decided ex-parte.
