“They will have the permission to protest at the Nirankari Samagam Ground in the Burari area,” said Delhi Police Commissioner.
The Delhi Police Commissioner, amid the possibility of a violent face-off between Delhi Police and protesting farmers at the border, has now allowed the farmers to enter the national capital.
“Protesting farmers will be allowed to enter the national capital. They will have the permission to protest at the Nirankari Samagam Ground in the Burari area,” said Delhi Police Commissioner.
The Police have decided the protest location, and it has to be seen whether the farmers agree on the location, since they intended to go the Ram Leela maidaan.
This comes after thousands of farmers from adjoining states continued pouring in at the Delhi border where Delhi police had placed heavy barricading to stop them from entering the national capital.
Earlier, barbed wire fencing, Barricades, water cannons and heavy police deployment awaited the farmers as they marched their way to Delhi to protest three agriculture laws brought by the Central govt. While the borders of the national capital were sealed to stop the farmers from entering Delhi, the first day of the protest also saw confrontations between farmers and police at various points along the borders of Haryana.
In the chilly winters, police used water cannons to disperse the protesting farmers who began their journey to the national capital in Trucks, tractors and trolleys. At some places, police also used teargas on a group of farmers trying to remove barricades to move forward.
