Former Cabinet Secretary TSR Subramanian dies

Former Cabinet Secretary TSR Subramanian aged 79 years died this Monday. He belonged to the 1961 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre and had served in the capacity of Cabinet Secretary from August 1996 to March 1998.

The IAS Association termed it to be a “sad news”. An official further stated that it is definitely an irreparable loss for the IAS fraternity along with the country.

It further stated, “Deepest condolences to all family members. We hope and pray that your ideas and thoughts will continue to guide us.”

The association furnished that his cremation would happen at the Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi.

It was because of the petition filed by his group of bureaucrats and diplomats that the Supreme Court had released key civil services reforms in the year 2013. Subramanian for that matter, exhibited great diligence to shield the bureaucracy from any kind of political intervention.

There are speculations that Bhaichung left TMC following the fallout with Party leadership on Gorkhaland issue.

 

In a shocking move, the former Indian Football team captain and Rajya Sabha MP Bhaichung Bhutia resigned from Trinamool Congress party. He also resigned from his membership of Rajya Sabha.

Earlier on Monday, Bhaichung Bhutia from his official twitter handle tweeted that he has quit the Party. He tweeted, “As of today I have officially resigned from the membership and all the official and political posts of All India Trinamool Congress party.” He further added, “I am no longer a member or associated with any political party in India.”

Bhaichung Bhutia had joined the Trinamool Congress party in the year 2013. He even contested 2014 Lok Sabha election from Darjeeling. However, he was defeated by BJP candidate.

A few months back, Bhaichung had voiced support for Gorkhaland agitation that rocked Darjeeling. There are speculations that Bhaichung left the party following the fallout with Party leadership on Gorkhaland issue.
