Retired IPS officer and Former Interim Chief of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Nageswara Rao faced heavy backlash after he shared the news of social activist Swami Agnivesh’s demise, calling it “good riddance”.
On 11 September, hours after the death of Swami Agnivesh, the former in-charge of the Central Bureau of Investigation, took to Twitter to express his thoughts.
“Good riddance, You (referring to the social activist) were an anti-Hindu donning saffron clothes. You did enormous damage to Hinduism. I am shammed that you were born as a Telugu Brahmin, Lion in sheep’s clothes”, Rao wrote.

Rao was criticized heavily, with several prominent personalities telling him that Hinduism doesn’t indulge in ill-talking about a deceased person.
An independent think tank— Indian Police Foundation said: “Tweeting such hate messages by a retired officer posing as an IPS officer – he has desecrated the police uniform which he wore and embarrassed the government. He demoralises the entire police force in the country, especially the young officers.”
